    Default Which formats to play?

looking back on the past 6 months, I can see loads of changes in my game, for better or for worse (i wont get in to the details now).
It came to mind that a player should probably only stick to the one area they feel most comfortable in. for example- only MTT's, SNG's, 6-max, 9-max.
Aside from acting like a complete moron and shooting up the stakes at times and steaming up faster than a rocket to the sky, I am begining to think I should focus my efforts on pretty much just one of the formats I mentioned above.
Im not quite sure what it is now since iv'e played just about everything in the past few months. Part of me thinks I could destroy people at HU cash (of course the negative side is my steaming temparment and my tendancy to go up in the stakes) since I have a nack for it and I enjoy the rate at which the money moves around.
Another part of me considers SNG's to be the way to go. I am fairly good at them and they keep me pretty restrained. The bad side about them is they take longer to finish and I aint the patient type as you can imagine by now.
MTT's arent anything im considering at the moment seeing as I know for certain im not that strong in them (although its hard to lose a lot of money playing low MTT's).
Anyway, im wondering what I should do since I think this is the way to go in order for me to progress as a player. Perhaps not for ever, but I certainly wish to stick to one major format for the time being. I was hoping some of the more experienced and "cool and collected" players here could give me some tips and show me how and what format would suit me best.
as usuall, any and all advice is welcome, so is constructive criticism. I really mean to buckle down and not do non-sense anymore, I feel ready to step it up a level.

I don't know what game you should play, but you have the right idea of picking something you're comfortable with. Also, play something that you'll enjoy improving on. A big part of only playing 1 game at 1 stake level is adjusting your strategies to what will make you the most money. After some time considering how to adapt, I think you'll find it really enjoyable just sticking to 1 game and proving to yourself that you're a solid winner over a large amount of hands.

But then again, some people might just love playing as many game types as possible without trying to specialize in one. I used to be like that. I played every form of texas hold'em when I first started. HU cash, HU sngs, 6max cash, 6max sngs, full ring cash, full ring sngs, MTT's, even limit hold'em. I'm not that kind of person anymore, so I definitely know people can buckle down and focus on improving their poker game if they want to, you just might not like it at first.
    Think for yourself. Question authority.

good to know. I had a feeling you would be the first to respond to this.
keep the comments coming guys, dont be shy.
another thing I wanted to see if I could figure out is the game format suited to me according to my schedule.
Im not super bussy, but i definitly dont see myself playing 12 hour long MTT's (im too bussy and I rarely make it that far).
Its cash game that is most suitable to my time, to anyone time I would think, you can just get up and leave after any given hand.
I enjoy 6-max and 9-max just the same, I dont believe im any better in either.
One thing im certain I have to stay away from is the super turbos. THey are poisonous.

I have been working lately to buckle down and stick to one specific type. I think I have it down to two different formats now that I'm playing. One format is on FTP and the other is on Stars. I'm not sure which one I'll settle on or if I'll stick to two, but I used to jump around constantly for sure. I've seen an improvement too since I've settled down with jumping around a bit. It makes it easier to have a good gauge on BRM too. I think it'd be really beneficial. As to what you should stick to, I think you'll have to figure out which one is most interesting/has the most potential to be profitable for you, and this varies from person to person obviously.

if you dont mind me asking, what formats are you focused on?
could you please share your thoughts on picking those formats as well or is it purely your best areas and most profitable zones? What I mean is are there any other things you took into consideration?

I have been playing a mostly Full Ring cash and 6-max sng's. I've stuck to the same level for both of these (pretty low). I'm also 4-6 tabling these most of the time. How I chose this? Well, I wanted to keep some kind of diversity in my game, so I figured I'd have two different formats. I decided to stick to them because it helps me a ton with tilt. If I'm not jumping through different kinds of games, I can force myself to not jump stakes also a heck of a lot easier. Since I'm sticking to these two, if I lose several buy-ins, I keep playing up until I feel like I'm tilting. As soon as I start feeling frustrated I usually take some kind of break. Look through your games and be honest with yourself. Don't just think of the bad beats you've taken in one format or another... just think about which format will offer you the highest yield with the lowest chance of tilt, and then stick to it. I'd only move away from something if after a decent sample, you see that you are getting outplayed.
