Very, very badly. I can't even remember any details about when I first started. Probably because I didn't think of any details like bet sizing, pot odds, hand ranges, etc. I think it involved a lot of limping and checking. It's pretty laughable to think about how bad I played. It took about 3 or 4 years before I realized how easy poker can be if you use logic.
    Think for yourself. Question authority.

Ive played live poker for about 3 years before I joined the online poker world.
I had a hard time dealing with my TILTED reactions, and i still do but much less.
the worst part for me was probably not being able to see any faces.
It has taken me the past 6 months or so (since i started) to be able and "read" players hands better. obviously i still have a long way to go but i can definitly feel a difference.

p.s great theme to start a topic.
Ogres and donks beware... i have a pitchfork!!!

Yeah, great question. It is funny to look back. Luckily by the time I started playing for money, I was already a nit (after reading a couple of poker books).

I think tight and aggressive (two g's in aggressive by the way) is the way to start. It's the best strategy for inexperienced players, because you give yourself fewer decisions by playing less hands, and fewer tough decisions by playing premium hands. Then, as you play more, you can loosen up, play more hands, gain experience, and ideally find an in-between that best suits your style, personality and expectations.

Although I was tight and aggressive then, I'm not sure what I have morphed into lately. Is tight and terrible an option? I guess it could be loose and spewy. idk.

Very interesting...I like that view on how a beginner should first stat out and I am pretty sure that is loose-aggressive is of course prolly level 1 to most that come into the cs world guess someone taught you early on

Would small ball counts as loose passive or loose aggressive? I think I've developed too many personality that I now should kill a couple of them off.

When I started playing I lived for the backdoor flush. I loaded $50 on to partypoker/">party poker and would sit at 1 table of .25/.50 with $25 and limp with any suited cards. Somehow I managed to keep a bankroll for about 3 months and then went busto. My style was definitely loose/passive and I had no clue what i was doing. People often yelled at me in the chat box after I hit my glory hand (backdoor flush) and took a small percentage of their stack.

I played really badly .. or honestly speaking I am still bad But I try to improve myself and to relax a bit. Part of this strategy is searching on the Internet and discussing with you guys the best methods and tricks playing poker.

    But I am still realxed

i am intrigued by your ideas (poker is easy) and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

i play micro limits for fun, but i think i'm becoming obsessed with the game. i've been playing a year and it's probably cost me €250 over 12 months.i've built up a BR in months and lost it all in 3 days.

i'm pretty good at reading when others are weak but the thing i can't read is (or fathom) is why they'll call with their lousy bottom 2 pair(plo).

i've learned (the hard way) that bluffing is unneccesary. seriously there are too many fish out there who'll just give you their money if you wait.

i've also learned that i can very quickly become one of those fish ater losing a couple of hands. NOT A GOOD TRAIT TO HAVE.

i've also learned that if you are going to bluff do it to a player that has a clue. they are far more likely to fold.

and sometimes the fish (esp at levels i play)just don't care. it's only another form of gambling to them and they just want to play for a couple of hours and have fun.they don't give a shit about pot odds, value betting tight or loose aggresive etc etc.
