Default Who said Rush Poker had a majority of tight players ?

I tried some Rush Poker today, and after a couple of Quick Fold, I kinda like it. Can't say for sure since I only loaded less than 500 hands but definitely a good new form of poker.

Anyway, I had a feeling the play was tighter than the usual $10NL tables because I didn't see that many people calling raises and even less reraises or 3-bets. And when I did, they usually have QQ, KK or AA...
Since you can't really establish a table image, you can't take those kinds of raise lightly.

    Here's a hand I played earlier :

    Full Tilt Poker Game #18189949128: Table Mach 10 - $0.05/$0.10 - No Limit Hold'em - 21:47:26 ET - 2010/02/04
    Seat 1: duplexx1 ($33.23)
    Seat 2: Igun ($9.80)
    Seat 3: 1O DOT TIM ($14.50)
    Seat 4: monkeyIsland1 ($10)
Seat 5: Donk Key Kong ($9.70)
    Seat 6: pioN_LMP ($17.47)
    Seat 7: Someretard ($7.97)
    Seat 8: Hero ($10.68)
    Seat 9: MEtzger0815 ($78.09)
MEtzger0815 posts the small blind of $0.05
duplexx1 posts the big blind of $0.10
The button is in seat #8
    *** HOLE CARDS ***

    Igun calls $0.10

    Igun shows [9c 8c]

    *** TURN *** [4h Jh 7d] [Td]

Hero shows a pair of Aces
Igun shows a straight, Jack high
Igun wins the pot ($20.30) with a straight, Jack high

Frankly, I was so tempted to shove all-in after the first raise (to $0.45). Yeah that's not exactly very +EV but maybe that's the only way to protect myself from these ?

When I had 2 callers to the flop I honestly put them on small PP. Maybe one of them had KK. So moving accordingly to my read, I pushed the flop in hopes nobody had a hit his set or had a flush draw. The instant call of Igun made me send a prayer to the poker gods but when his cards were revealed I was so relieved I almost tripped over...

Then the inevitable and horrible turn came, sending my buy-in to the villain...

Time to rebuy, what else ?

come on...villain called with a small prayer and hit. Why the heck would you want to "protect yourself from these?" Give me a villain who will make that call all day and I'm loving it. I wouldn't want to be "protected" from these... let 'em make their 4 outter or runner runner calls all day long and I'm quite happy.

I'm sorry, when I said "protect myself from these" I was only considering the -10$ outcome. Of course, just like you I want more people to call me soooo lightly like him...

Still struggling to recover that buy-in by the way

The only outcome you should look at is the face you got it in as a favorite. Also, if you freak out because your AA got cracked and you "try to recover" that buy-in... you might slip away from your A game. Don't worry about the buy-in. Just look at the next hand and try to make the right play again. Recently, I've come to realize just how swingy poker can be. Over 300 single table sng's... I had 15 below EV swings until recently where I finally caught back up to my EV, and then instantly dropped another 3-4 buy-ins below EV. Stay properly rolled and things will even out eventually... you just gotta keep playing better than your opponents.

    Hey Dew,

I'm not freaking out because AA got cracked once. I was just saying I got a feeling people mainly played tight or tighter than usual on Rush Poker, and that my encounter with one specimen of a loose player ended in his favor.

I'm still playing with a 3 digits BR but I do have over 50BI for $10NL. So I guess I'm not playing under or over 'rolled.

In the end, I didn't recover the BI and ended the session with a -8$
For a first Rush Poker try out, it's not that bad. I like the instant and constant action provided by the Quick Fold button. I guess I'll need some time to adjust to the plays I saw...
