NL Hold'em In Compare To [VS] PLO [ Omaha Hi ]
Well i decided to post this article on general topics because i didnt find the right place to put it on, so if it doesnt belong, moderators feel free to move it to the right section.
Today ill make some criteria showing the difference between PL Omaha [PLO] HI and NL holdem,
holdem is the most popular poker game in the world, but in the last few years there was a raising on the intersest on PLO, more players learned the game and a lot of new players start playing the game.
so 1st of all lets discuss rules,
i think all members know Holdem rules so lets start with omaha Rules.
Basic Omaha Rules
every player dealt 4 card which called hold cards., which he must use 2 cards Only to make a hand.
5 community cards are dealt which all players can use, 4 betting rounds and if it is a show down hand the best 5 cards [3 community and 2 hole cards ] the best hand wins,
structure of hands strength is the same as holdem.
only Hi Hands win. Maximum Best size is the POT.
for Example:
u dealt A
A
K
K
, u raise pot, 1 caller.
flop comes
Q
A
3
u raise pot, villian calls
turn comes 3
u raise pot, villan calls.
river comes 4
u raise pot, villan goes all in, u call
villian shows: 3
3
A
K
Villian wins the pot with 4 of a kind three's.
Basic holdem rules are, every person dealt 2 cards face down, then there is a betting round, flop which include 3 community cards, betting round, the turn card , 1 community card, another betting round, and then the river the last community card,
the best 5 cards hand wins the pot. there is no Max bet size.

Strength of finishing hands for both Omaha Hi and Holdem:

Live & Online-
PLO become popular the last few years because of raise of interset on online poker, many new site thousends of people playing and many tournements, PLO is more complicated game then holdem, u need to know the exact potsize in any street which make live game more complicated, its hard to know the exact count after every street, online poker made it simple because players know what is the max bet and it became more playable.
Texas Holdem is playable both live and online, u dont need to know what is the pot size and it is very easy to play.
Cash Games[ring games]:
both holdem and PLO are good and nice playable on a ring game, on omaha usually there are more action, every starting hand can finish on top and the best u can get preflop is 75-25, in that spot ur opponent is "Crushed", that means even top hand like AAKK suited against 2234 isnt assure to the player holding AAKK the victory, that creats a lot of action because every card opens, there are more hands, on omaha hi the player always running to the NUTS.
in Hold'em, the top hands are likely to win a lot more then PLO, not every cards opens changes the whole hand and ur hand is a lot more protected, u can run ur opponents away by betting big, and it is a lot more bluffable
Tournements:
In my mind, this is the problem with PLO, both playable, but in order to make a big tournement u need a lot of players which there arent many PLO players and, it is a lot harder to protect ur hand, when blinds become big its almost impossible to control the action, every normal hand is considered good and u can see many players shuve with a mid hand, and many times its all about luck ur not dominated usually like Holdem.
Holdem is a lot more tournement game, there are many players that know the game, its a lot easier, and when blinds become big u can control the action, there are hands u can shuve and if ur not ultra short stacked u got chances to come back and win hands without the decision of LUCK.
SNG's:
well in this criteria, there isnt much to say, PLO isnt a SNG game, PLO isnt a PLO game, u wouldnt see many big games on PLO when its SNG, because its hard or even impossible to play this game when blinds are big, so its alike tournements, PLO action usually comes when people are drawing or nuts VS 2nd Nuts, when blinds are big its hard to draw, its the same when a guy shuve every flop when blind 10/20 on NL its impossible.
Holdem is a playable game on SNG, u have control of the action and u can protect ur hand, even if ur shortstacked, u can get urself in good spots when ur opponent is drawing dead or drawing thinly, or dominated, which asure u in the long run winning money, its not the same in PLO. [ if any1 wanna get this point more sharply, ur Welcome.]
