Can we just have $100 buyin freerolls? I'd actually play in those.

OK here are my 50 cents.
Well to say honestly those who really wanted to get in the tournament did it. Password was sent to everybody 2-3 hours before the start, that is true not all of our fans got it from the first attempt, but it seems that from the second attempt more people received it because there were people registering and not only russian freeroll lovers but a good part of lets say players from Europe and US. The password was also posted in the comments like 20 times, I personally deleted it like 20 times, so those who were checking the comments saw it multiple times. At the same moment players were registering and I should say the speed was not so fast so there were still plenty of free seats. Even when we finally posted the password on our wall there were like 600-700 free seats which were filled during 30-40 minutes. So those who were checking the wall and who really wanted to get there did it.
I know RB does their best. Even though I didn't play, I'm still sincerely thankful for the freeroll, b/c they create bankrolls for many people (including myself), and "generous" doesn't even describe putting on a $1k freeroll open to basically anyone.
I'm also not trying to come off as ungrateful. I meant what I said when I probably wouldn't have played in this anyway. I just wish things had gone really well with the whole messaging system. But, with this new system on FB password releases, I do think there is room for improvement based on how the messages came through to me. But this is to be expected, and I figured with it being the first attempt at a new delivery system, things might not go as well as one would hope.
I get facebook messages sent directly to my phone, so I figured if I weren't busy, I might register for this one once I got the message, but something went weird and I didn't get the message. If some of this password sharing stuff did finally get sorted out though, I feel like I would definitely be more prone to trying to play in these more often. It's really not a huge deal to me though, but some people treat these freerolls like they are the only forms of income they have in life. For those people, if there are room for improvements, I think it would be cool for rakeback to seek them, which is what seems to be happening, which is why I figured throwing out suggestions was welcomed.
I never received a message on Facebook about the freeroll. I wasn't looking to play, anyways. I'd be pretty annoyed by all the Russian password thieves if I did play in this though. They are probably left over from the short stacker army.

I don't understand - if they really wanted to "steal" the password couldn't they just become a fan of Rakeback on Facebook? Anyone can, right? Btw, I didn't get a message either, but also wasn't looking to play. Wouldn't the best way to do this be to send out a message to our inboxes on this website about an hour before the start? Is your system good enough to be able to do that reliably and quickly (as Facebook's clearly isn't)?
Also, doesn't Full Tilt have a mechanism whereby you can only register if you're on a preselected username list? Or is Rakeback's list of members on Tilt too huge to make this feasible?
Yep, anyone could become a fan, including unscrupulous rival (I use the term 'rival' very lightly) affiliates.
Established sites like rakeback attracts new customers by offering freerolls, it's just normal business which has enabled them to grow a membership of 60k+. Then you have a host of much smaller and newer sites looking to get their slice of the action. They'll use underhanded methods to attract new customers, like a whole section of their forum or a long running thread devoted to password theft. As proven yesterday, when it comes to passwords for facebook freerolls, they're a pretty reliable source. Not only could I get the Rakeback on Facebook pw...
The bottom line being, there's no need to be a fan or a member of the many different sites offering freerolls when many of the passwords can be found in one convenient location.
Gathering a preselected list of usernames is probably the best way forward. I dont know about FTP but it would certainly work on Pokerstars, you'd need a ticket (which would be in the system) to register.
Every fan did receive a Facebook message, but the problem was that messages sent by a Facebook Page like http://www.facebook.com/RakebackCom go to the Updates tab of the Facebook message system.
So the message is not directly visible in your Facebook message inbox, you have to separately click the Updates tab before you'd see the message. When we noticed this and that people will probably realize to look for the password message there, we posted the password visibly so that users get to see it.

This is definitely as facebook problem. I checked both inbox and "updates" around 13:50EST that day, and didn't have anything, and I just checked it now, and I have it. It says one msg recieved at 12:11 and another at 12:54, even though those messages weren't there even close to those times.
thanks for the info & gl all
