Default Differences in Rush vs Regular Cash

I figure it's time to discuss the differences in the two specifically. I know the obvious things have been stated such as, people tighten up, and you can't get reads on people as easily. But I'd like this to turn into a discussion about more specifics, and what you do to combat the differences.

One example, back when Rush first started, at the lowest stakes I noticed a tendency for UTG to min-raise. I'm not sure what started the tendency, and I don't think it is still as prevalent as it was. However, if I were in late position against a min-raiser, I 3-bet them regularly, usually I would click "pot" and then click back a few BB's. This had an overwhelmingly high success rate, and it was a rarity that I got called or even 4-bet from UTG. While it wasn't much, this usually picked up 2bb's plus the LB and BB for a total of 3.5 bb's, making a "steal" essentially worth a lot more.

So has anyone else noticed weird tendencies/how have you adjusted your play from regular cash to be more profitable at Rush?

When Rush first came out, people would just minraise with the bottom of their range since they know villains don't have reads on their betsizing and why raise to 3bbs with the bottom of your range when you can risk less and raise to 2? Once I picked up on this I just 3bet them 100% of the time. However, the dynamics have now changed and now a lot of people are mixing up their play and also minraising with AA/KK. Also something else that is catching on is limp/3betting with AA/KK. It seems like it happens every time someone gets that hand UTG/UTG+1. Also, almost all the fish aren't quick folding from the small blind. When I'm BB and it's been folded to the SB, I've seen the SB complete so often with hands with very little equity like 84o, 95o, etc. that they could have immediately quick folded when they were dealt in the hand.

So basically Rush is turning into the exact same thing as regular cash games. I'm sure the game will keep adapting back and forth between Rush style and regular cash style. It will just be one big cycle. Now, if there were reads on players, there really wouldn't be a cycle at all. Because there aren't any reads, people will have to keep adapting and playing opposite of what people think, creating this cycle of dynamics, which is really cool to think about imo.

That's all I care to say about this lol.

I just finished playing a long session of 2cent/5cent Rush and most of the time I would raise to 20 cents to start. I noticed that people will rarely make a play at you on the flop. Most of the time when I bet people would just give up and if not I usually knew where they were at. I won most of my money by stealing blinds and stealing on the flop. I got up 2 1/2 buy ins until this last hand... everyone folded and I was in the SB. I had 97 hearts and made my standard raise. The BB reraised to 60 cents and I called flop was A 7 9 rainbow. He pots quickly. I went all in and he called with AJ. My hand held up and I was done for the night. I am content with waiting for situations like this in rush. I think you have to be more careful with AA and KK in rush because people will put you on those hands if you 3 bet a lot. I usually try to keep the pots smaller with my big pairs when I am up against more than one player. Sometimes checking on the turn can induce a bluff on the river. I think there are so many players that cant get away from their big pairs in rush... my strategy is to crack the big pairs and bet big when I do.

I have been able to move from 10NL and am now playing at 50NL with good results. What I have found from my experience and I have now completed over 40K in hands since it started is following differences in each level

At the lowest level there are more limpers than raisers anyone raising at this level seems to have a strong hand I commented in a earlier thread that 3BB with air from the SB is common from my first experience I have since discovered any three bet @ 10NL is rarely called and if so both players have monsters, so the practice of 3betting with ATC from the blinds is not as common as it was when Rush commenced

Players seem to give up on the flop a lot more than in a standard ring game, CBets seem to work a lot more in Rush vs. Reg tables and players don’t seem to chase down hands unless they are drawing heavy and then it is seems to be easier to read their likely hand.

As I moved up the levels I found which I expected, a lot more aggression Pre flop at 50NL there are no min raises if so they are found OOP from a 3Bet from DB or CO time and time again.

I haven’t seen a lot of disguising monsters (AA,KK) but what I have notice is more players are prepared to get it all in pre flop on mid pairs, AJ or even AQo.

Blinds are hang around more than before if it hasn’t been opened SB seems to raise it up most times I don’t see to many completed from the SB and if any aggression from the BB will take the pot down most times.

It seems most players are starting to widen their calling range pre flop which would lean more to an overall TAG strategy being the more successful over a period of time.
I have really grown fond of Rush and don’t play Reg tables anymore, i really like the format and allows me to play a great number of hands and spend more time with the family which is great
