Default help me to stop being a donk.

ok, i'm not a donk. 90% o the time. but ten per cent of the time i lose all reason and start playing poker like you would a fruit machine. it's usually triggered by a bad beat but not always. i would think 60 -70 % of my losses occur during this time. but try as i might once i get onto that mindset i can't stop. any suggestions welcome.

another leak in my game i've identified is my refusal to lay down decent/marginal hands to bad players. it's best explained like this. last night i was bb. two callers including sm.plo 5.10c

flop comes A 8 3 with nut diamond draw, which i didn't have.i had A 3,WITH PRETTY MUCH NOTHING ELSE.

    SB checked.

    i bet pot 40 cent.

    button raised to 1.20.

    sb folds.

after some considertion i fold too. reason being, i know button is fairly solid player. he at least has A8, possible set and redraws to flush and wheel straight. i didn't really want to get involved with my two pair and little chance of improving my hand.he later told me he had set of 3's.

the thing is though. put me in the same situation with a donk and i become the donk, playing my marginal hand like the god damn nuts.

    any ideas suggestions welcome.

Marginal hands are the nuts against donks. Not in PLO though.

nobody can help you, if you know the mistakes you are doing, and you simply dont change your way to play.

if you know your weackness try to dont get involved in the situaction that you know your weackness will betray you.

play simple and aggressive, try to use just monster hands pre flop to dont get trapped by the villain. start playing in the mtts or sng, it will be easier for you to grow in the game and gain confidence.

thanks for the reply mate. i guess you're right. no one can help me until i earn to control my (sillly stupid) emotions.thing is at the level i play (admittedly low) i still break even despite my inability to control tilt sometimes. just trying to make the step to winning player.

and I WILL NOT MOVE UP THE LEVELS UNTIL I CAN. (it would just be poker suicide).

don't really like tournaments though. i hate the blind structures and most of the tournaments on betfair(my main site) are 5 minute levels, which just makes me think crap shoot.

I'll tell you this. You may think that was a good lay down but it wasn't.If you keep folding hands like that away to one 3 bet ull go crazy and end up losing control. Think of the hand like this.If he was such a good player why would he in position with such a strong hand want you to get away from your hand with a raise.???

    why????

because it's PLO. and a set can soon become fifth or 6th best hand , thats why.

say another ace comes down if he JuSt callls with his set of 3's. can you see the very dificult decision he now has to make.Because if it had you can be sure i'm going all the way with it. i can't rememebr the whole hand, but in PLO a set, (particularly one like 3's, where even set over set is quite common), is not that strong a hand. if you suspect your opponnent is drawing, then make him pay for it.

as it was, i had two pair with little chance of improving.i also KNEW my opponent to not be an idiot.if it was NLHE i'd have found it hard to lay down. in PLO when there's action 2 laying dwn 2 pair is like putting your head on your pillow at night.EASY.i've seen so many players go broke with 2 pair in the very short time i've been playing PLO. (about 9 months)
