By luck I meant when you don't know the city but know the country and guess right, or you're asked the places you know. I didn't mean throw a dart randomly lol.

I'm pretty sure I've watched on of my best friends play it up to level 18... it was an extra credit for a course project if you could get to level 19 and the guy never was able to beat 18... I'm not 100% sure on that though. The guy was kind of a crazy person with remembering things.

I had to remember all of the countries in the 6th grade (one continent at time). Not sure how much value I got out of that.

Wow. That's quite a bit to have to know for 6th grade I'd think. Was that like a year long project? I actually don't think I ever had to really know much geography. Those classes were always taught by the crappy coaches.

Yeah, over the entire year. I was pretty good at it too, 100% on every test (I'm pretty sure).
Then in middle school each history class ran a geography competition, where the top student of each class competed to represent the school in a broader competition, I was able to beat my class in the first round, but I made a really stupid mistake in the 2nd round. The question was very long and convoluted, but I remember it had the name "Havana" in it, so obv Cuba was the answer, but I got lost in the words and guessed wrong. This thread reminded me of all that.

Lol. I think we only had coaches as teachers starting middle/high school.
