Poker Edge, Sharkscope, etc.
Do they work in identifying player types?
Especially playing heads up.

Not quite sure what you mean, as for example Sharkscope just shows the tournament results for players.
If you are looking for a program that you can identify players and their styles, I recommend PokerTracker along with Pokerace hud. With PT you can idenftify all players you have played with from Tight-aggressive to loose-passive and everything in between.
I haven't heard of this, but it sounds intriguing. I will research this some more. Might not be something I would invest in but it is quite interesting to think about.
I could probably learn a lot from something like this.
PokerTracker, IMO, is a must. Back when I started to seriously concentrate on poker and making decent profit from it, I got myself PokerTracker. It's possible to "bonuswhore" it from several sites, altough it only costs $50 anyway, and it's definetely worth every penny. It tracks every single hand you (and your opponents) are dealt, and shows a whole lot of your stats. Definetely a great tool if one is looking to get better at the game.
i think all them "tools". can be very misleading.
Thanks for your insight Treephish.
I guess you have used them and found them to be misleading, Mr. Poker guru.
Fairdinkum if you are going to make a post try engaging your brain and make a realistic contribution.
Well, they could, if you are talking about tools like pokerpro (or something like that) that kinda "tells" you what to do in every situation. PokerTracker how ever just tracks all the hands you have played, so it's easy to go back, look at your mistakes, or anything you've done correctly, and learn from that. It's got a playback option as well, where you can replay any given hand. It's got all your stats like overall aggression, PF raise... you name it... Very good tool, add PokerAce hud to that (shows all stats for other players on the table itself) and your set. The rest is up to one's own skills at the game. Naturally, these programs aren't the tools to become a winning player, but I seriously believe that once you get used to them and find the information useful to your own game, it definetely gives a little boost to your BB/100.
PokerTracker sounds like something I could use, and every other player out there. Thanks for the tip mate.
I used sharkscope, but i ever subscribed, so i could only use it for 5 searched per day, sharkscope tells there average buy in and ROI% in sng and mtts ONLY, so you can get a rough estimate of there play.
Now i have heard if u subscribe to sharkscope you can find out A LOT more about your opponents, like if your in a $5.50 9 man sit n go, you can search all the players in it and there SPECIFIC stats in that buy in and that type( 9 players) sng.
Its very useful if you subscribe.
