Default I am done playing on Mondays

I keep losing my ass on Mondays and I have no idea why. Maybe all the fish go back to work on Monday and don't start tilting til later in the week. I noticed this pattern a while back and I thought it would just even itself out in the long run but I continue to lose so screw it... no more Mondays for me!

Variance? Sat and Sun should be your best days if there were none. And clearly 5% on Mon to 15% on Tues is variance. The sample sizes aren't enormous.

The 5% is deceiving. For the longest time my Monday ROI was similar to the rest of the days but I have lost a ton in the past 6 months or so. It would be way in the negative otherwise. I have had only 2 major downsizings in a day and they were both on a Monday... Monday - $90 profit vs Tuesday $1,100.... I dunno man just sayin...

Absolutely agree. The sample size is simply too small to read anything but plain ol' variance into your observations.

But if I had to speculate, I'd say that there is a greater degree of better players' playing at the weekends, as they most likely have other 'meaningful things' to do during weekdays...

No. The better players play during the week, because they have better things to do on the weekends. There aren't many recreational players that are good.

Doesn't it piss you off when 6k games isn't a very big sample? Sample sizes tilt me.

pokerbucket - ever heard of the old phrase: "you make your own luck" *?* There is some truth to that here, because if you've convinced yourself before you even sit down to play that you are going to have a shitty session because of the day of the week, then your results are going to reflect that. There has to be something more going on... something you can control.
I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

I have to somewhat disagree with you guys on the sample size, this is 6k heads up tournaments... not 6k hands. This is 2 years of me playing almost everyday.... If this isn't a decent sample size then how much would I need?

lilady - I know.. I know. A lot of times I don't even think about it until I lost a shit load and then I look at the date and I am like lol its Monday again....

    Yeah, 6k tournaments is loads - but 875 isn't.

If you've only ever had two major downswings in a day the odds of them both happening on the same day is 1/7 - not that unlikely.

Both of your only two downswings happening on a Monday would actually have a 1/49 chance, quite unlikely. I have something very similar, except mine is a Thursday...........like you, no idea why!

Just quit playing Mondays so you can have a major downswing on another day.

Lol, you don't care which day, you're gonna take significance from it regardless of which day it's on, for example a Thursday! So the important point is odds of both occurring on the same day, which is 1/7.

    Bad case of the Mondays?

Not enough sample size? This looks pretty statistically significant to me, your (true) ROI is lower on Monday than other days. Run a chi-squared test for significance. (I forgot how to and don't feel like relearning that atm).

How big are these SNGs btw?

Ok if they're heads up then I don't think sample size is ever going to be an issue here, there's such little variance invovled.

What complicates this is the different buy in amounts. Losing one $20 SNG is equivalent to losing 3.3 $6 SNG, and same for winning. Is there any way you can filter out the $10+ games? HEM will filter it but it tells you how much chips you won/lost which is lol. They really got to fix that.
