Default How do you spend your FR winnings?

Do you play it right off or do you let it sit there until you have enough to play bigger tables/tourneys? Some players depend on FR's to fund thier banks while others make deposits, so there is a wide range of answers.

I make deposits so for me it's a bonus, i try to keep track of the money i win and save it for something bigger, i look at it as a free entry and if i lose it doesn't hurt as much.

Nowadays, I haven't played much in the way of freerolls, and my last deposit on Nordica was quite a while ago, but I did play in the 50K monthly freeroll on Nordica in May and won $150.00. But it was just kind of absorbed into the already-built bankroll I had developed, so it probably never got touched.

I do recall cashing in a couple of freerolls on Ultimate Bet a while back, and since I don't tend to play on Ultimate Bet very much, I just went ahead and played with the money, since it wasn't a big amount and didn't really make a difference what I did with it. I played in a couple of sng's and doubled the money, then played a few cash games and made about 1/3 more. After that it just kinda sat there collecting dust LOL.

Cashed in a couple Poker Stars freerolls, but wasn't enough for me to consider playing with, so again, it just sat collecting dust LOL.

I rarely if ever play on Full Tilt anymore, unless a friend invites me to a private game, or if rakeback is offering something for members there. I used to make a killing on the cash tables on Full Tilt, but the laxity of the freerolls was just too extreme for my liking, so I never took them seriously enough to make any money. I compare Full Tilt freerolls to play chip games because people play like they just don't care, which makes it very hard for someone who plays a tight game to get ahead sometimes.

I haven't touched Absolute in a really long time (since the whole scam thing came to light), but I cashed a few freerolls there...well, can't really call it "cashed" since they were Poker Aces Freerolls, so all I got was a couple of hats LOL.

Overall, I think the best thing to do with freeroll winnings is if you win it on a site where you are comfortable and willing to develop a bankroll, then you should let it "collect dust" and continue to build it up over time. That takes a lot of patience and will power though, so be prepared. Temptation is a booger, but you can ignore it if you really set your mind to it. It takes a long time to build off of freerolls since most of which only pay at most $50 for first, with the average being $15.

I like Poker Nordica in that when you play and develop points throughout the month, you earn entry to a very large paying freeroll (50K) so you have the opportunity to win much more than the usual sites' freerolls offer. Also Nordica's points system develops points very quickly...much faster than other sites, so if you play a few hours a day then you will easily get enough points to enter the freeroll. So if freerolls are your thing, and you don't mind putting in a $25 deposit to get the ball rolling and start earning points, then Nordica is definitely the way to go.

I guess it really depends on how much the freeroll winnings amount to. But, for the most part, they just become a working part of my bankroll. And I play with them the same as I play with the rest of my money in there.

If it was something minor but large enough that it would amount to a buy-in I normally wouldn't make... maybe. Like if I won $11 and wanted to enter an $11 MTT (which I would never do normally)... I might go for it. Of course, this would mean I was drunk and that would mean I would lose. I can still look at my sharkscope numbers and point to where I had a run of very drunking $15+$1 18 player turbo sit and gos.

It's an ugly thing. I think I will just stay within my limits.

I usually go right over to sng's..and try to build up a bankroll. If I'm in the mood I'll buy into a $5 MTT or something. When my roll gets to about $200 I withdraw most of it and start all over. I start all over, because after seeing a couple of hundred in my account..that $20 doesn't look so good so I play a little out of my league trying to build it back up really fast.
discipline. need some.

Default Freerolls

Freerolls, hmmm, the mention of them would curl the lips of one and glisten the eyes of another.

There are some freerolls I enjoy and play in and others I avoid like the plague.

I will not play in a freeroll with 1000 persons where first place is $20. No reward for the work. Others, like the $100 10-12 player PTOTW, $2500 300 player Rakedaddy, and Nordica $10000 1000 player weekly and $50000 1800 player monthly freerolls have some nice purses and in my mind are legit tourneys worth all efforts. First prize for Nordica monthly is 5 grand, a very nice freeroll prize. Hell, it is a nice $10-20 tourney first place payout.

When cashing in these the money is absorbed into my bankroll (which I protect like it was my grandmother) and I play on at my normal playing level, unless winning enough to increase betting level while keeping within bankroll rules.
