Default Jesus Ferguson Challenge

This is kind of a follow up to a post a few weeks ago about the full tilt 500,000 play money tournaments. I started building up my playing money stack in full tilt and played the tournament and cashed $2.

I was thinkng I'm going to do the same thing that ferguson did and turn freeroll money into a certain amount using strict bankroll management. maybe like $1000 or something. anyone wanna try the challenge with me?

I'd do it just to see what it is all about, but since I've started a new job it limits how much time I have to mess around with tournaments during the week. Pretty much the only real free time I have is on Saturday and Sunday now, where I can sit and play for hours and not have to worry about being finished in time for work.

Default Ferguson Challenge

KayJee333,

I read the Chris Ferguson FTP Tip # 100 also and started using it almost 8 1/2 months ago. I have accumulated $96 and one $26 token. Playing in the 500,000 freeroll and other freerolls in the private category will take forever using C.J.'s tips and his money management. Unless you do VERY well in a $1 tourney with a lot of players on more than one occassion. Sincerely, good luck and I would like to keep in touch to see how you are doing.

May all your cards be alive and all your pots be monsters.

just got up to 2 million play chips after only playing for a few hours, people are ridiculously bad in these play money games. I think I'm going to get up to about 10 million play chips to play in 20 of the 500,000 freerolls and expect to win about $20 and go from there. This actually seems pretty easy, I'll keep you updated!

KayJay, how did you accrue so many chips so quickly? Is there a certain particular tournament that is more profitable than others, play-chips wise? I don't play on Full Tilt anymore for money (took my last $600 out and left a while ago), but perhaps the play chip thing might be something I can half way deal with, while still maintaining my sanity LOL. The more you talk about this, the more interesting it becomes...so I'm just curious...

you start with 1000 chips play money, I just took all that to the 5/10 play money tables and kept folding for a good hand. Within a few hands picked up AA went all in and quadrupled up. Once I got up to 4000 I split it up between 4 tables and just played tight and went all in with good hands. I built that up around 30K in about 20 minutes, then went up to the 100/200 level buying in for 8000 at each of the 4 tables. I kept using this strategy and moving up levels as soon as I could buy in for the average at 4 tables at the same time. I'm at the 3K/6K blinds right now until I get over 3 million Play Money bankroll then I'll move up to the 10K/20K blinds.

I tried playing a 100K tournament but found those to be a little tighter players. I got 3rd and cashed but it seemed a lot harder to make money.

Everyone is ridiculously loose at the low levels since it's play money so I would get called with crap every time and very rarely would lose. Even at the higher levels I would go all in with top pair top kicker and get called with middle pair or top pair bad kicker ever time. It takes time to build it up but it's sure as hell a lot easier than real money cash tables.

The only problem is that once I have my play money bankroll where I want it I'm planning on playing in about 20 of the freeroll tournaments which are held at 740 pm my time and I'm never around during that time. The freeroll tournaments are somewhat easy to cash, with about 35% of the players making it to the money. When I first tried this play money tournament thing I build my Play Money stack up to 1 million and played in the 500K freeroll twice, cashed once and went out right before the bubble the other time. I had my $2 but no play money chips. I played in a Sit n Go and got 4th out of 9 so I lost my money immediately and had to start over with play money. I wouldn't recommend that. That's why I'm going to build up my play money huge and play in the free tournaments so I will have around $20 of real money before I start playing $1 tournaments and will have a decent bankroll for that limit.

So there ya go lil lady haha. I'll keep you posted. I think it'd be a lot easier if I would just deposit into a different site but I kinda like that challenge and wanna replicate fergusons idea. I'll keep you guys posted
