Default Just a thought for post of the week

THIS IS ONLY A SUGGESTION.......... What would everyone think about the powers nominating 6 people for post of the week and instead of a vote, the nominees could play a SNG for the $100? I just think no one could do anything sneaky that way and it would add more fun on top of the posts.

Personally I LOVE this idea! I think it would be a perfect way to weed out the bad apples, so-to-speak. Great thought! I hope to see the mods response to this as well.

I would like this because I've been nominated but my threads are never really popular. It would give me a chance.

The only problem I see is finding a site that all players would agree to play on.

I don't think it would matter what site because most complaints are about the other players on the site. Since it would just be us playing each other it shouldn't make much difference. Just MO.

I think the only hang up as far as what site would be as long as americans are allowed (Jokerstars, FT, etc) other than that the site shouldn't matter and could even change....

It also matters if the site is Mac compatible. I can play on PS or FTP because they work on my Mac or work without a problem under emulation on my BSD desktop. But I do not have access to Windows... so playing on Nortica (for example) could not work for me.

i agree totally. The format now is nothing more than a popularity contest.

I agree, a poker buddy of mine told me about this site and that I should vote for his thread. I think it would be cool to play for the winner. The only other problem is how do you decide what time and what day to play the Sit n Go?

See that's what he was talking about with reference to it being a popularity contest. People get nominated and tell all their friends to vote, which leaves everyone else out in the dark as far as their chances. I can honestly say I have never asked anyone for a vote. To me, it should be as it was intended.....it should be the thread that had the best responses and the best topic......not the person with the most friends.

Time would likely be a concern, considering that some people are in USA and some are in Europe. That would probably be the only snag...good thought...

I think this would be an even better idea if they used the standard 60/40 6 player pay-out split. With two people getting paid, it provides even more motivation to post good threads because you really stand a chance of making something. I am not opposed to playing down to 1 winner but I also just thought about splitting it. I would be just as happy with $40 or $60 as I would be with $100 in the long run. They are all decent amounts for compensation of the effort put in.

While I do like the idea of playing for it, I don't see how it could work. Not only are the timezones a huge problem, but then there's the fact that people need to work, their hobbies, etc... Even if the tournament would take place on a saturday or sunday, it's still not certain that people could play it, since people do work in the weekends as well. For example, in my line of work I'm working three days, then I'm off duty the next three, then working again three, next three off, etc... It'll be at least a huge amount of work setting it up so that all nominated guys and gals are able to play.

Default Good Idea

I like the idea.

Here is a suggestion, keep the current format but give $50 to the winner each week and put $50 away for a end of promotion tourney for the nominated writers. If you get nominated multiple times, it will just limit the field a little more. Who ever gets the most votes over the time frame picks the poker room for the final tourney.

Or give $50 to the vote winner and give the other $50 for the nominees to play RakeDaddy in a game of Indian Poker, the one who beats RakeDaddy in the least amount of hands wins. You could give them a date span for one attempt in which to complete their games.

I guess the timezones would be a bigger obstacle than I thought....... I was just thinking that some people would like the option to play for it so that someone cant try to persuade votes. We should all just be happy that the powers came up with the idea in the first place!!!!

I like this idea too but I think it is true time would be a issue for overseas folks and american folks. Plus I only have one poker site and that is Full Tilt so even though I never hardly ever am on here long enough to have anything worth your while to talk about if I ever was to come up with something and get nominated and be lucky enough to win, my options would be very limited for playing for the money.

if there was some kind of way to play for it without playing at the same time......... like the indian poker idea......... something like that...... hmmmm. I also think if people had $100 to play for they would open accounts on whatever site (they dont have to deposit right?)

This is a nice idea, and we'll look in to it.

Tournament would have to be invitation by username only, so will have to check what poker rooms would support that.

Time would pretty much have to be Saturday or Sunday at noon for US, evening for Europeans.

I was already thinking that also writers of good replies should be awarded too, not just staters of a thread. We could select a few users who started threads, and a few good replies, and set up a full table SNG for everybody.

That sounds pretty cool Mollila! With the tournament being set for 12pm in US time (I'm assuming EST) that would likely run into any freerolls set on Full Tilt for a weekend day, as they always run at 1pm EST. This does not bother me as I've multi-tabled plenty of times, but I just wonder if others are so comfortable with that concept? Then again, I'd blow off a freeroll for a REAL game against REAL players anyday!

I would join a site to play for the money if not my home room.

Thanks,
