Killing time Another boring poker post about an event in some random forum poster's poker life.
I still remember the very first deposit I made into an online poker account. I put $50 into a PartyPoker account back maybe 5 years plus ago. (when they still accepted U.S. players) At the time it was the only place I had seen ads for on T.V. commercials.
Armed with nothing but some simple home game experience and common sense, I decided to register for a MTT with a buy in of $11 ($10+$1) There were over 1300 people registered and I ended up placing 11th, taking home around $200. I decided to register for another tournament directly afterwards and cashed in that as well.
I played the same tight-aggressive strategy that I watched the poker pros play on the WSOP. I had never read a book or any poker blogs. With having minimal knowledge, I didn't bother with fancy plays or drawing at inside straights or back door flushes, etc.
I just played premium hands and paid very close attention to what was going on around me.
Nowadays I find myself over thinking hands, trying to make plays, etc. Back then I played pretty solid poker all the time. I guess if I had to rely on poker to pay bills, I'd probably play solid all the time, or not play at all.
