Thought this might be an interesting discussion.

Do you multi-table, as in 2,4,6,...tables at once.

Personally, I play one table at a time. I like to watch the time, and try to keep myself interested in the hand by trying to figure out someone's play.
Every once in awhile I will pull up a friend's window, and watch them too.

So how many is to many???

Most often times I will only play one table at a time because I like to watch the other players; However, in cases in which the game is exceptionally slow, I may open a micro game off to the side of a tournament just to help pass the time; I find most often if I get bored, I will not play properly, so keeping my mind occupied during the down times helps to keep me focused.

I much prefer to play one table and study my opponents and make sicks calls and bluffs. So if i am playing for fun or find an extremely lucrative table i might do just that.
Normally, depending on the games I'm playing i have 3-4 tables going because i play for a living and dont feel like playing 100 hours a week just to pay the bills. The key of course is finding the balance to where u can be most profitable, for me 3 at 6 max or 4 tables of full ring or sng/mtt's.

I play 4 tables at once. That seems to work pretty well for me. There is enough time to follow the other players and how they play. I probably won't play more tables at once, because adding tables, naturally, makes it all the more difficult to study the other players. I played only one table at a time for a long time, then added one, got very used to that, added another, and so on. Another reason I won't play more tables is that the site where I play my cash games doesn't allow me to change the table size apart from normal/mini, and the mini tables are too small for my liking, normal too big if I open more than 4 as they already line up on top of each other some.

It seems that the more you multi-table, the better you learn to follow the players at all tables. A friend of mine plays with ease 8 tables of NL100 at once, and to me it looks insane, I couldn't play that many. Way too confusing.

Oops, I didn't even notice we were talking tournament play here, not cash games.
In that case, when I play one-table sit 'n gos, I usually play 2 or 3 at once, but multi-table tournaments I only play that one and don't open anything else up.

I have played from 1 table at a time up to about 12. For me personally if i play cash i am most profitable playing 3 at a time, mtt's 4, turbo sng's about 6 and heads up sngs 2. My main problem is i get bored playing just 1 at a time. The only exception is if i am deep in a tourney!

3, sometimes 4 if they're slow tables. 1 table is just so bloody boring

In tourny play, I only play one table, since I want to concentrate. Cash games I play 3-4, so I can get the quanity of hands that I need to make a profit. I make a lot of notes on other players so playing 3-4 tables is enough stimuli to keep me going. Plus playing this many tables is good for rakeback!!!!!!!

I've tried to multitable, but it only seems to work for me. If I want to play a game mosty about cards, and lil reading.

I play one or two tables. When I play two I like to be in a single table sit and go and a multi table tourney. I focus a little more on the single table for player reads and play more of a personal multi table stragety for the tourney while picking up on what ever reads I can. I would rather focus in on one or two tables at a higher amount then to play more tables. The cool thing is you can do what ever you feel at the time, one or more, it is up to you.

It depends what I'm playing. The most sngs I like to have up is 12. Anymore than that and I'll get totally clustered once it gets close to the bubble. I'm fine playing 16 tables of cash, but it's still incredibly boring since you're playing like a robot. If I want to have more fun and play better, I'll just move up stakes and play 4-6 tables. Pretty much the same profit either way, I just like actually having reads and making good moves on people as opposed to playing mostly just my cards while 16-tabling. If I'm counting rakeback in my profit, 16-tabling is the way to go, clearly. It's physically and mentally draining though haha.

Wow! So many of these old threads being given new life lately. Must be the new fad here

SNG's - I rarely play them anymore but no more than 4 at a time because if I get down to the last 2 or 3 on all of them then I really gotta rush on each table.

Regular MTT's - Don't play them much anymore either but no more than 3-4 at a time. I like to keep an eye on the other players at the tables.

Cash tables - I usually play 6 max. I like to play 3-4 tables but up to 6 sometimes. If I'm playing a full ring game (9 players on Tilt), I can handle up to 8 tables. Playing 3-4 tables on the 6 max though still gives me a chance to keep up with all of the tables and take notes on other players as need be.

If I'm playing full ring cash games, 4 tables. If I'm playing sng's, 4 tables. 6-max cash games, 2-3. If I'm in an MTT, I'll somtimes add a sng, HU sng, or small cash table to go along with it. If I'm specifically playing a heads up match, I usually only play 1 HU match at a time. But, I just started getting into the world of multi-tabling a few months back and some days I just don't feel like playing multi-tables.

Surprised to see some of my old threads still getting some traffic.

I still won't multi a cash game, but now I will do up to 3 or 4 tourneys. Have'nt been doing sng's since I started back. Trying to get my stats back in order. lol.

However, even playing multiples. I find I still pick one to focus on, then shift my attention to the others that my stack is getting low, as I fix one. But it seems like I spend all my time trying to fix a tourney. Where if I just play one. I can bank, and relax, bank and relax.

Glad to see you've all been doing well. I read that cash out post from fictive. Man, I need to be hitting it like that. lol.
