Default Online play against big stacks

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that when playing online tournys if a short stacked player goes all in with a premium hand ie pocket K's that a big stack quite often calls with basically nothing ie J 5 offsuit and the big stack draws out against them. I am a realist but it just seems like it happens way too often.

Yeah, I have noticed this too, it can be quite annoying at times.

I actually do that sometimes in a tournament, provided that a few things happen. This means a short stack goes all-in, it gets folded to me when I'm sitting in the blinds, and I have such a big stack at the moment that it basically doesn't affect my stack much at all. If I believe I've got two live cards, I just might call. I do this because 1. losing the hand won't affect my stack much (for example the all-in is 3-4xBB and I've got a good stack) 2. I've got the chance to knock a player out putting me closer to the money. 3. If I do believe I've got two live cards, it's safe to assume I've got around a 35% chance of sucking out, or better.

Granted, I won't make the call with J5 or such, but still. To me, it's worth the gamble.

It is indeed worth it at times.

Then again, in many online games I have seen, the short stacked player goes all in just because they figure they might as well, they think they have nothing to lose. (I guess - I honestly don't know why someone would do that but it happens often enough I figure there is some reason in there).
