Default this is what puts you on tilt

If you keep getting good hands and you are winning them, eventually you are going to get unlucky, i've had that happen to me ALOT. Get like 10,000 veryyyy early chips, wind up getting AA or KK and losing to 1010 or a small pock pair. Then you will keep getting bad luck for a while, so sometimes its better to just leave your computer until blinds get a little higher and have a good chip stack when you come back. So, winning alot early will eventually put you on tilt.

Although we all get badbeats/suck outs that can hurt your chip stack, i believe the key is to let it go, don't dwell over it!! If you can't get over it then get up and leave for 5mins then come back. Helps me but it might not be the cure for all.

I wouldn't call that a great solution to going on tilt. In tournament play you have a finite number of hands to play and if you're being dealt AA/KK early on then you're missing a great opportunity by sitting out those hands. If you take a bad beat you just need to shrug it off and keep in mind that you made the right move (you did, of course, put in a decent-sized preflop raise?).

umm this is prolly the dumbest thing ive ever heard of,

if i rake in 10K in the first hour of a tourney im sure as hell not going to walk away and wait for the blinds to get bigger, i play to win every time, and if i put it all in with As or Ks, and i lose to 10s
im not going to feel bad cuz im going to make the same move every time, and i like it , cuz im getting my money in with the best hand, and in the end that will win u more pots

I agree with you in 99% of what your saying, but even if you walk away & come back later your still going to get screwed in the end especially on JOKERSTARS & to a lesser extent Full Tilt.

I dont agree with that, I have won tournaments on both of these sites, it does take some luck in tournaments, and your AA will lose to lower sets at times. Just shrug it off "eh, it happens" is the phrase to take away the emotion from losing with them.

I dont agree with sitting out early with chips. If you get a good hand and get bad beat that happens Id rather get bad beat with low blinds than big blinds when that happens it can cripple you. Usually the guy that bad beat you will play loose again and you can trap or get your chips back sometimes with interest. Gl man

I wouldn't walk away early, but I typically play very tight for the first hour or so and play only premium hands, until the donks knock themselves out. Then I open up a bit more, and tighten up near the bubble.

your strategy is to pray to whatever god you worship that you always hit the nuts on the turn and pray your opponent has only one out to beat you all the time. If you are sweating a 1 outer beat, you have issues, I personally love losing to the 1 outer, i mean, that is damn near once in a year occurance.

I've been takin some bad beats with pocket Qs and Im not talkin about QQ up against A10 its more like QQ against Q9. Out of my last 10 hands havin pocket Qs Ive managed to win 0. Now that sucks

Default Play, do not sit

Why would you ever sit out, especially if you have a chip lead. Yes AA and other monsters get beaten all the time. But we play poker because we enjoy the game and some make a living off of it, but we all want to play and love to win.

Sitting out is not playing poker, I can see if you need to let the dog or yourself out for relief, but to sit out so you will not lose is not a winning strategy. You can play tight when you get a lead and still wait for a big hand or you can use some of your stack to buy some pots, that is how the early lead turns into a monster chip stack. Do not give up an hours (or even minutes) worth of opportunities to take others chips. Do not be afraid to play any hand you decide to stand up with. Nothing is determined until the river, but get your money in with the best of it.

Use your poker instincts, make the decision and learn from any mistakes. That is playing poker.

I don't play a whole lot of attention to early chip stacks , those people are never there after the first break and certainly aren't there at the end of the tourney , the blinds aren't even worth fighting over until later on when they are worth more , I tend to let those people who like to get the whole table all in every pot eliminate themselves , I play tight early and loosen it up later on when the blinds and post are worth my time and build my stack then , it's just a crapshoot with the whole table in every pot lmaooo , gl

I can't bring myself to sit out unless absolutely neccesary. As previous posters have said, playing Tight Aggressive is the key to getting deep in the tourneys, slowing down near the bubble is likely to get you blinded out so the ultimate answer has to be, only play a hand where you are prepared to go all in if forced and be prepared to fold the winning hand if there's a possiblity it can be beaten.
I've changed my strategy to encompass this during freerolls over the past couple of months and am regularly cashing now, not vast amounts but enough to keep a nice bankroll going on all the sites I play. If you pick and choose which cash games you play, at tables within your budgets, it's not too difficult to use your freeroll winnings to build a nice stack.
I stay away from cash tables specifically because it's too easy to blow your whole stack in one sitting, small stakes sng's and mtt's represent the best value for me.
Good luck all on the felts.
