PokerStars vs. iPoker Rake Comparison
By Taylor Cuccia, Rakeback.com Contributor
Industry giants PokerStars and iPoker face off in this edition of poker rake comparisons. Using some of the most common poker games and stakes as comparisons, we will determine which site offers more favorable rake for which games.
|Note that these rake figures are averages, and each player’s style will affect their rake paid. In general, tighter players will pay less rake than loose players.
Additionally, players playing one specific game and stake would be better off ignoring our overall grades and simply finding their respective stakes in the charts and choosing the room with lower rake.
|Stake||6-Max NLHE (bb/100)|
With a sweep of some of the biggest advantages we’ve seen, PokerStars takes the 6-Max NLHE category.
|Stake||Full Ring NLHE (bb/100)|
Another sweep of significant edges, PokerStars wins full ring NLHE as well.
|Stake||PLO (6-Max) (bb/100)|
PokerStars sweeps PLO also, once again with some of the biggest advantages we’ve seen in this category.
iPoker avoids the sweep in this category with a one percentage point advantage in the <7 buy-in category (11% vs. 12%). PokerStars shows advantages at every other level, however, thus giving them the nod in the tournament category.
- These numbers do not factor in rakeback. Be sure to take your potential rakeback into account when making a site decision. iPoker rakeback deals are made privately and vary greatly in value. Rakeback.com currently offers 70% rakeback with iPoker site Winner Poker. PokerStars offers a VIP program instead of rakeback. Check out Rakeback.com’s PokerStars Rakeback Calculator to determine your effective rakeback perecentage.
- Traffic also needs to be considered. According to Pokerscout, PokerStars has about ten times the traffic of iPoker on average.
- PokerStars is generally believed to have the best software in the industry. This may improve a player’s ability to multi-table, a key factor for rakeback grinders.
With sweeps in every cash category and a win in the tournament category, PokerStars takes down iPoker in our industry-giant poker rake comparison.
