PokerStars Caribbean Adventure

The 8th annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure started things off with a bang on Thursday with one of the first public multi-table tournaments to feature a six-figure buy-in. The $100,000 Super High Roller event fetched an impressive 37 entrants, amounting to a prize pool of $3.7 million.

As is to be expected, the field is packed with top-notch players from famous long-time pros like Daniel Negreanu to up and coming internet ballers like Daniel "Jungleman" Cates. Other notable entrants include Guy Laliberte, the billionaire founder of Cirque de Soleil; Jonathan Duhamel, the winner of the 2010 WSOP Main Event; and Viktor Blom, the aggressive young Swede rumored to be none other than Isildur1.

The Super High Roller is a three day event, meaning the final table will be on Saturday, January 8th. It's sure to be tense as the tournament's small field size ensures that the six-figure cash bubble won't burst until the middle of final table action. Edited coverage will be on ESPN2 later in the year.

The Main Event of the PCA ($10,000 buy-in) gets started on the 8th and runs through the following Saturday. The final table will be broadcast in its entirety on a combination of ESPN2 and the online streaming portal ESPN3--hole cards included--with a time delay of only one hour. It's a great opportunity for fans to observe every decision the world's top players make at a big final table.

Other big tournaments on the PCA schedule are the High Roller (a mere $25,000), the $5,000 Heads Up Championship, and the NAPT $5,000 Bounty Shootout.
