Most of us who are familiar with Randy "nanonoko" Lew don't think of him as a tournament player. He's one of the foremost online cash game grinders in the world, and is a member of Team PokerStars Online for his ability to play a massive number of mid-stakes tables at once.
Just because he doesn't focus as much on tournaments certainly doesn't mean he doesn't play them, however. This week "nanonoko" took a break from 24-tabling on PokerStars to play a live tournament, the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau at the Grand Lisboa Hotel and Casino.
The slower pace of live play often causes online players to become too aggressive or lose their patience, but that wasn't a problem for Lew this week. On Sunday he won the event for a total of 3,772,000 HKD, equal to about $480,000. He defeated a field of 575 players to take home the title.
Very few players have spent more time studying and playing poker than Lew, and he is a perfect example of how hard work and time at the tables leads to success both online and live.
