PokerStars Announces SCOOP Changes

By Ian Hiaring, Rakeback.com Poker News Staff Writer

PokerStars SCOOPDue to the recent events affecting United States poker players and their ability to play on PokerStars, the site has made a few changes to the upcoming Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) tournament series.

Earlier Start Times

In order to better accommodate the European countries that make up the majority of the PokerStars player base now, the start times of all 114 events have been moved three hours earlier. This should allow you to better work in some valuable snooze time between events if you’re living on the east side of the Atlantic pond.

Adjusted Prize Pools

The guaranteed prize pools of most of the events have been adjusted to better reflect the anticipated number of participants. Many of the events have seen a drop of up to 50%, while a few of the lower buy-in events have kept their original guarantees. The total amount of guaranteed prize money has dropped from $45 million to $25 million.

SCOOP Tickets Still Have Value in the U.S.

In a related note, United States based players who had won SCOOP tickets prior to Black Friday will get the full value of their earned tickets credited to their accounts as cash, which is now available for withdrawal from the site.
