In a statement issued Friday afternoon, PokerStars announced that over $100 million in funds have been returned to players in the United States. Just over two weeks ago the online poker giant announced that they would be processing payments for U.S. players wishing to cash out their unusable balances on the site.
While it’s unclear just how much money U.S. players have on PokerStars as well as what percentage of that money has already been cashed out, the site will continue to allow cashouts and says that “the funds to cover these withdrawal requests are readily available”. An agreement struck with the U.S. Department of Justice just five days after Black Friday paved the way for PokerStars to begin the cashouts.
Full Tilt Poker has struck a similar deal with the DOJ, but has yet to begin offering cashouts to its U.S. players. Absolute Poker and UB have also promised to allow U.S. players to withdraw their balances, but there’s no timetable yet on when this will happen.
