Every year online tournament players flock to PokerStars for the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). The world's best players hit the tables over the last three weeks, and some of them made life-changing money.
PokerStars guaranteed $30 million in prizes, and in actuality $47,120,800 was awarded to players. The $5,200 buy-in Main Event guaranteed $5 million in prizes. It smashed that by drawing 1,627 players for a total prizepool of $8,135,000.
The WCOOP leaderboard saw a tie for 1st place between two players who each had an amazing series. "2FLY2TILT" reached 4 final tables, and "Big_Nemo" had a series-leading 17 cashes.
Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu came in 3rd place on the leaderboard thanks to 15 cashes.
With the United States not able to participate, the country whose players did the best overall was Canada. Canadians collectively won $6,473,865.14, cashed 1,788 times and made 63 final tables.
The Main Event was won by "Kallllle", a Danish player who had a massive chip lead on his opponents for the entirety of the final table. After a 5-way chop, he walked away with $1,260,018.50.
As always, PokerStars provided a top-notch tournament series with massive guarantees. Even though this WCOOP just finished, we can't wait for next year.
