PokerStars Goes Live With Planned Rake Reductions and Adds More

PokerStars has implemented the rake reductions we announced on January 28th, and there are even more reductions than had previously been planned.

On January 28th, we happily announced the rake reductions that PokerStars agreed to as a result of negotiations with player representatives at their headquarters on the Isle of Man. They have now been implemented, in addition to a few more.

At the outset of the meeting, I urged PokerStars to uphold its reputation for having the best customer service in the industry by sending us back with changes that would not just meet players’ expectations, but exceed them. It appears that they listened.

Last Minute Rake Reductions

No Limit Games (includes all "big bet" games like No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha)

  • 5NL Rake reduced from 4.5% to 4.15%
  • 50NL 5-9 handed rake cap reduced from $3 to $2.50
  • 5000NL The planned rake increase at $5,000 NL has been cancelled.

The introduction of the new 6NL stake level at Texas Hold’em has been postponed pending further discussions.

Limit Games

  • $0.05/$0.10 Rake cap reduced to $0.04
  • $0.25/$0.50 Rake cap reduced to $0.16
  • $0.50/$1.00 Rake cap reduced to $0.40

Caps in euro games have been adjusted to reflect a lower exchange rate.

In total, the reductions amount to an overall reduction of 2.94% on US Dollar tables and 3.13% at Euro tables. Microstakes have done best of all, with reductions worth 6.99% on US Dollar tables and a whopping 9.04% at the Euro games.
