For some weeks, the highest Zoom No Limit Hold'em stake offered on PokerStars was 100NL. A rep on the forums had commented that:
'The decision to deploy Zoom at higher stakes requires more analysis and time to pass so that we can gauge the real impact of Zoom on the games.'
Some players had voiced concerns that including up to $1/2 and $2/4 (the same stakes previously offered by Full Tilt Poker's Rush) could affect the 'game liquidity' at regular tables.
In other words, non-Zoom tables would receive less traffic and players who preferred that format, especially Full Ring specialists, would find it harder to get games going.
With their excellent reputation for listening to the players, PokerStars have decided to make the highest Zoom stake $2.50/$5 instead. Similar to the 2-5 level popular in live casinos, 500NL is running now under the Zoom lobby, in both 6-max and Full Ring, as of an hour ago.
The classic $1/$2 is also now available, along with $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Omaha 8 or better (NLO8) and $0.10/$0.20 Five Card Draw.
PokerStars have no doubt done the math and come to the conclusion that the unique $2.50/$5 blind level is best. With the higher buy-in of $500, it should draw fewer people away from the $2/$4 regular tables, as well as appealing to 600NL regulars. Players can grind 1000 hands per hour four-tabling the Zoom pool.
It remains to be seen whether or not Zoom Poker causes segregation of the mid-stakes NLHE cash games.
