Poker challenges have a long history in online poker. The Durrrr Challenge was one of the first, and consisted of Tom 'Durrrr' Dwan playing 4 tables against opponents at high-stakes No-Limit Hold'em for extended periods of time.
The Isildur1 challenge was another, and Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom took on challengers at PokerStars. His challenge was also 4 tables, but 2 were No-Limit Hold'em and his opponent could choose either No-Limit Hold'em or Pot-Limit Omaha for the other two tables.
Countless other heads-up challenges have taken place under less official terms, but we believe that the world's largest online poker room, PokerStars, is launching the first highly publicized heads-up match where the game being played will be Limit Hold'em.
The first two players, online pro rUaBot and Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu, will play 1,250 hands at 2 tables of $200/$400 heads-up Limit Hold'em. The starting bankrolls will be $75,000 each.
The identity of rUaBot is currently unknown, but he's a massive winner at high-stakes Limit Hold'em, so Negreanu will certainly have his work out for him. That said, TWO of Negreanu's four World Series of Poker bracelets came from Limit Hold'em events, so he's certainly no slouch himself.
If you're interested in watching the match, check out PokerStars at 14:00 ET on Saturday. We know we'll be watching.
