One of the most common goals of poker players is to take down a huge tournament and earn life-changing money.

The PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker is certainly a great place to do that, as Russian player maratik learned on Sunday (and Monday morning).

Maratik won the WCOOP Main Event, and after a 6-way deal was reached at the final table he pocketed just over $1 million for his accomplishment.

The event drew 1,825 players and had an incredible $9,125,000 prize pool. The final 8 players all won a 6 or 7-figure sum.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about maratik's victory is that he won his $5,200 buy-in through qualifiers. He managed to turn just 40 Frequent Player Points into the buy-in, which he then turned into $1 million.

Must be nice!
