The PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is by far the largest annual online poker tournament series. This year's WCOOP guarantees $30 million in prizes over 65 events.
The complete schedule of events will run between September 2nd and September 23rd, which means you can already get in on the action!
Registration has closed on the first two events. WCOOP-01, a $215 buy-in 6-max No-Limit Hold'em tournament with a $1 million guarantee, drew an amazing 7,322 players for a final prize pool of $1,464,400.
WCOOP-02, a $215 No-Limit Hold'em tournament with a $1.5 million guarantee, drew 10,608 players for a prize pool of $2,121,600.
If the events continue to smash their guarantees at this pace, it seems likely that the $30 million guarantee on the entire series will be far lower than the actual amount awarded in prizes.
