Tennis Star Rafa Nadal Wins PokerStars Prague Charity Tournament

Rafa showed that his determination on the tennis court translated well to the green baize of the poker table as he won the EPT Charity Challenge and a €50k first prize for the charity of his choice.

I played for the first time in a live poker tournament and it was a big honour to play against a lot of stars around me, some in sports and other ones in poker. I had fun and I enjoyed it, and I felt a little bit lucky that I finally won

High point of the event for Rafa, apart from that glorious moment of victory, was busting PokerStars Team Pro Daniel Negreanu.

Ukrainian footballer Andriy Shevchenko, Italian skier Alberto Tomba and Dutch Olympic field hockey gold medalist Fatima Moreira de Melo also fell by the wayside.

The tournament table was surrounded by a continuous bank of cameras all programmed to take shots at 100 milli-second intervals. The output will be used to create slow motion sequences for a TV documentary of the event. The technique produces the dramatic effects used in the Matrix for the fighting action scenes

Prague is the centre of European live tournament action at the moment, with the PokerStars EPT Eureka, and the Prague Poker Festival running concurrently. The festival includes the PartyPoker WPT Prague and the 888poker Prague Championship.
