Last week the 14th edition of the European Poker Awards were held at the Portomaso Marina Hilton Hotel in St. Julians, Malta.
The awards coincided with the European Poker Tour’s stop in Malta, and had over 200 industry members attend.
This event gives the European poker industry a chance to recognize its best, and most accomplished players over the course of the past year. As well, individuals who work behind the scenes, and people that promote the poker industry are recognized.
Team PokerStars Pros, Liv Boeree and George Danzer both won awards. Boeree, who has over $2.5 million in tournament earnings to date, won the “GPI Female Player of the Year”. While Danzer took home the prestigious “Pokers Best Ambassador” award. He’ll add this trophy to the 3 WSOP bracelets he won in 2014, on his way to capturing the WSOP Player of the Year title.
Unlike the inaugural US Poker Awards that were held this past February, Europe has been rewarding players and industry members for some time now, and deservingly so. The 14th edition of the European Poker Awards is a testament to the strength of poker throughout Europe and worldwide. Congratulations to the winners and nominees.
