November 9

In anticipation of the World Series of Poker Main Event final table, Rakeback.com will profile each of the “November 9” players. The tournament resumes November 8th at 8:30 pm EST. First place pays a staggering $7,680,021. Here is a look at Pierre Neuville, who currently sits in 4th chip position.

Seat: 2 — Pierre NeuvillePierre Neuville

  • Chip Count: 21,075,000 (4th chip position)
  • Location: Knokke-Heist, Belgium
  • Age: 72
  • Profession: Retired Businessman
  • Lifetime Earnings: $2,174,187
  • Biggest Poker Score: 2014 $5,000 WSOP — 2nd Place ($385,041)

Pierre Neuville started playing poker in 1957 while attending university in Brussels, Belgium. He had a knack for games in general, and parlayed that knowledge into his own toy and game company. He would later sell that company to Hasbro and become their vice chairperson in Europe.

In 2008 Neuville retired and started travelling the world focusing solely on live poker tournaments. Neuville is referred to as “The Serial Qualifier”, having qualified for so many live tournaments through online satellites at PokerStars.

In fact he has qualified for 23 straight European Poker Tour events online, a truly impressive feat.

Perhaps foreshadowing Neuville’s WSOP success, earlier this year he received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the European Poker Awards. This could have been the pinnacle of a great career, but Neuville wants more. Fittingly, after receiving the award he had this to say… “The best is still to come, and it’s never too late to win”.

He already has several large six figure scores and has live tournament earnings of $2,174,187 heading into the biggest final table of his life. At the age of 72, he has more than proven he's got what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Come November, Neuville will look to become the oldest person in history to win the WSOP Main Event Championship. Proving once again, even in poker, age is just a number.

Leading up to the final table, ESPN will be airing weekly coverage of the 2015 WSOP Main Event Championship.

Next week we’ll meet, fifth in chips Max Steinberg from Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
