PokerStars hosts small buy-in NAPL tournaments every night for players in the U.S. and Canada. There are three divisions: a Rookie Division for U.S. players, a Rookie Division for Canadian players, and a Senior Division.

Here are the three nightly tournaments that make up the NAPL:

 North American Poker League Tournaments
Although players are awarded cash prizes like any other tournament, the real benefit of playing NAPL events is the chance to win monthly bonus money by being amount the top 100 points earners in any of the three leagues. Several thousand dollars are given out each money, with first place in the Senior, Junior-U.S., and Junior-Canada leagues taking home an additional $200, $160, and $80, respectively.

NAPL Freerolls

If you’d like to play in the NAPL but don’t have any money in your PokerStars account, you can qualify through the nightly NAPL $500 Freeroll. This tournament takes place daily at 20:00 ET. It awards 380 entries to the $1.10 NAPL Senior Division tournament, and 736 entries to the $0.11 NAPL Rookie Division tournament. You can find this and all of the other NAPL tournaments in the PokerStars lobby by selecting ‘Tourney’ and ‘Regional’.

Superstar Showdown

Now that heads-up superstar and recent PokerStars signee Isildur1 has been revealed as the young Swede Viktor Blom, he’s taking on all challengers in 4-tabling $50/$100 matches at PokerStars. What’s more, Stars is offering online qualifiers a chance to face Blom while putting up none of their own money.

The two winners of separate tournaments on February 13 and April 10 will each be staked $15,000 to play 2,500 hands against Isildur. When the match is over, they get to keep whatever they’ve got.

There are two ways to qualify for the Superstar Showdown finals:

PokerStars SuperStar Showdown and Rakeback

If you’re feeling exceptionally confident, you can also opt to skip all the preliminaries and challenge Isildur directly by emailing [email protected] But you’d better have a well-funded account; As PokerStars reps clearly state, “only serious applicants will get a response.”
