Team UB Members Get Their Walking Papers

By Ian Hiaring, Rakeback.com Poker News Staff Writer

Team UBIn a move that came as no surprise to most people involved in the poker industry, UB’s parent company, Bianca Games, announced that all members of Team UB their services would no longer be needed, and released them from their contracts.

The move leaves professional poker players Brandon Cantu, Joe Sebok, Prahlad Freeman and Tiffany Michelle without an online poker site to call home. In a press release issued Monday, UB explained the reason for the move with the following statement,

"To ensure the ongoing viability of the business, it has been necessary to downsize certain aspects of Absolute Poker's and UB's operations. These efficiency measures have been taken to enable the brands to continue to operate their non-U.S.-facing business. …"

"Regrettably, the negative effect of 'Black Friday' has extended to the company's highest profile group of poker professionals, known as 'Team UB.' Consequently, Blanca's executive management team today informed its roster of sponsored pros that, in accordance with the provisions of their agreements, their contracts have been terminated."

Sebok, who was arguably the most well-known member of Team UB, and was considered a spokesman for the company, made a statement on his blog regarding the situation. While he doesn’t directly reference his release as member of Team UB, he does make apologies for “not being able to accomplish all that I wanted to” during his time with the company.
