Interesting Fact: The winner takes home a brand new Audi TT
The Turbo Takedown is a monthly tournament on PokerStars with a buy-in of 3,000 Frequent Player Points and a guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000. It’s a great way for players who can’t or don’t feel comfortable putting up $215 for the Sunday Million to experience the thrill of a big-money tournament. In addition to standard cash prizes for the top finishers, the Turbo Takedown also gives out special cash bonuses, bounties to players who bust Team PokerStars Pros, and a brand new Audi TT to the winner.
FPP satellites to the Turbo Takedown run around the clock. Find them under Tourney —> Satellite —> FPP in the PokerStars software. Registration in the Takedown is limited to 25,000 players, so try to get in before the tournament fills up.
One of the coolest ways to win money from the Turbo Takedown is with the repeat cash bonus. If you make it into the money in the Takedown two months in a row, PokerStars will give you a $100 bonus. If you make the money in the next month also, you’ll get $200; do it again, you’ll get $300, etc.
You can also get a $100 bonus if you knock out any of the Team PokerStars Pros.
Turbo Takedown Strategy
The Turbo Takedown pays out cash prizes to the top 5,000 finishers, which is at the very least 20% of the player pool—much high than most tournaments, which typically pay out to 10-15% of entrants. And since the tournament’s cheap entry fee and abundant satellites ensure that even many inexperienced players will get to enter, the net effect is that it is relatively easy to cash in the Takedown. Just stay patient in the early game while you wait for players to knock each other out. Then once you’ve cashed, be sure to play again next month for your chance at the $100 bonus.
